Rig Owners

Oil and GasRig OwnersContractors

Listed below are some of the major rig owners that you may come across while carrying out work either onshore or offshore. You will find that rig owners do diversify and have other companies besides the rig side of their businesses. Rig owners contract out their rigs to companies for anything upto 3 years and in some cases longer to drill wells wherever the contractor specifies. Contracting a rig costs lots of money so there is always a sense of urgency in getting the job done, but not at a relaxing of safety however which is a major issue within the industry.

The above companies and corporations are some of the ones that I have come across. Bear in mind that most major countries around the world will have an interest in the oil industry due to its energy producing resources. Therefore these countries may also own their own rigs and work on a contractural basis, so its not possible to list every company who owns rigs, but I feel the major ones are listed above and you will in time either work on one of their rigs or read about them in various articles.
